DR FEELGOOD MESSAGE BOARD REPLIES 1998
Re: Lee Brilleaux Memorial
Tuesday, 15-Dec-98 22:31:32
Hi Stephen, Naturally the next Memorial is in planning but I got no
details yet. Please keep an eye at the Lee Brilleaux
Memorials page of the Dr Feelgood website as I usually add new info
as soon as I got it. Normally the memorial is held in April / May in the
Canvey area. Tickets should be ordered as soon as the date is announced
because the venues are not very big.
If you want you can already try to make a ticket reservation at the Feelgoods
office: GRAND RECORDS, 107 a High Street, SS8 7RF, Canvey Island, Essex,
ENGLAND - Fax: 0044-(0)1268-695009.
I hope I also can be there. Till now I never missed a memorial and always had a great time!

Sorry the gig was cancelled - this was NOT due to the Feelgoods but the promoter and only cancelled with less than a fortnight notice. We were looking forward to our fish & chips and the Cleethorpes hospitality. Nearest gig will be at Leeds Irish Centre Thursday 3rd Dec with support from Two Timers & Nine Below Zero.
Re: Tab!!
Thursday, 26-Nov-98 12:15:09
Well, I play along to it by chopping away at an A chord with a little
four note run at the end like this..
---x---------------------
---5---------------------
---6------7--5----------
---7------------7--5----
---7---------------------
---x---------------------
(although I think Walwyn may put a G chord in there somewhere)... then moving the whole thing up five frets...
...then whacking out a D and whatever the same shape is two frets further up for the "Baby can't you see, you ain't fooling me" bit...
----5-------7----
----7-------9----
----7-------9----
----7-------9----
----5-------7----
----5-------7----
Enjoy.
By coincidence, I'm off to see the Feelgoods tonight. I'll see if I can spot if he plays it differently.
Re: Re: Tab!!
Wednesday, 02-Dec-98 05:49:12
Thanks for the tab David, I will have a go at that tonight and see if
it works for me!!
Hope you enjoy the gig!

Write to The Feelgoods Office, where Anne Adley will deal with your requests,no problem!!
Grand Records, 107a, High St., Canvey Island,Essex. SS8 7RF England.

Re: GUITAR TAB
Thursday, 05-Nov-98 11:49:36
I'm desperately searching for Feelgoods TAB as well. If you come across any, contact me at the e-mail address above.
I have been thrashing away on my telecaster (black with a red scratch board, just like Wilko) and I have worked out the basics of a few songs. I'm willing to transcribe them if you want.
Re: A Tribute to a True Gentleman
Tuesday, 13-Oct-98 09:34:23
Hi,
I couldn't agree more with you're tribute to Lee. I was fortunate enugh to have worked for the Feelgoods off & on as a roadieand I had some superb times.
I've got to say though, they couldn't have found a better or more likeable replacement for Lee than Pete Gage. Another true gent with genuine talent.
If you feel like swapping stories on the feelgoods please email at Sme3232557@aol.com
Cheers,
Steve

Re: newsgroup/mailing list

Hallo Roland,
Surfen entdecke.
Lass mich wissen, falls Du etwas Feelgood mäßiges machst - dann
linke ich zu Dir.
FEEL GOOD!!! Grüße in die Schweiz

Hi Bill,
Many Thanks for this very nice message!!! What an honour, you thought on
me when hearing those lyrics! I will show it to the Feelgoods when I meet
them in June.
Unfortunately I never heard this song... Must have a look if I can get
it somewhere!

Lady Doctor,:-)
Thats OK, the song is a good R and B track, I have a live version on a double album I dunno if its out on CD. You might like some Graham Parker And The Rumour stuff some of it is R and B but some is quite soulfull and singer/songwriter stuff. I hope you get to hear it I would have put it on a tape for you if you wanted but I didnt get a ticket in time for the big gig! Have a good time there and tell us all about it for those who couldnt make it!

things to do. I hope to get an update on the net in the next days!
Many thanks for the congratulations about the award! It was a big surprise for me to get one! FEEL GOOD!!!

Re: Life and Feelgood
Sunday, 12-July-98 05:44 - VIA E MAIL
Hey,
Just saw your message. I first saw the band in 76 (!) at Newcastle City
Hall. I think it was the tour just following the release of Stupidity (might
have been that tour). I've been a fan ever sense - preferring the first
line up but appreciating all. I've also kept up to date with Wilko's bands
- saw him with the Solid Senders many times and even caught him with Ian
Dury and the Blockheads in 1980 (ish).
I saw the current Feelgood line up last last year in the Cellar Club in
South Shields (Tyne and Wear) - great night. Good line up.
I have a boring 30 something middle manager job now but play in an r'n'b
band with the early Feelgood feel at weekends. We've even got a website
- please check it out and drop me a line. It's at:
http://web.onyxnet.co.uk/Rhythm.Bandits-onyxnet.co.uk
Maybe hear from you sometime.

Hi John!
Really interesting your story about Dr Feelgood - I will add it to the
website if you don´t mind. If there is a problem about it, send me
an e mail , ok?
I would be happy if some more people would tell their stories and experiences
with Dr Feelgood like you have done. It´s so great to read about
it.
Cheers & FEEL GOOD!!!

Re: Your Feelgood Story
Sunday 12-July-98 05:52 - VIA E MAIL
John,
Similar experiences and views!! I first saw them in 76, as a teenager,
and have seen most line ups since. I agree that the first was the best.
I had a similar chat with Lee in the bogs at the Mayfair in Newcastle about
1980! I've never met or spoken to Wilko but still catch his tours. He changed
my attitude to guitar playing (I play in a fast r'n'b band still - check
out http://web.onyxnet.co.uk/Rhythm.Bandits-onyxnet.co.uk) and we still
do a few Feelgood/Wilko covers.
Wilko also got me into Mick Green - clearly a major influence on him. Wilko's
coming back to my area on August 1st (stanley Blues Festival) but sadly
I'll be best man at a mates wedding in Sheffield. I also saw Wilko with
Ian Dury and the Blockheads in 80/1 - clearly where he picked up one of
the best bassists I've ever seen - he even worries Whalebone Pete (who?).
Drop me a line sometime.
Bye for now.

Re: 1998 memorial concert
Tuesday, 10-Mar-98 11:38:29
Hi Shane,
that´s great news to hear you really will make the pilgrim from Australia
to Canvey!!! Naturally it is my pleasure to have a drink or two ;-) with
you and other fans who also will be there for the Lee Brilleaux Memorial.
I already had the idea of doing a kind of "Dr Feelgood Sightseeing
Tour" with anyone who is interested. I will leave a note at the homepage
regarding this because I probably will be in England some days before the
11th June to meet friends.
Also I will publish the address of the "Kings (Holiday) Camp"
in Canvey where I stayed at earlier visits. It is not "Five Stars"
quality but you will get everything you need to "survive": 3
beds, a sofa, kitchen, shower & toilet, heating. A shop, restaurants,
discotheque, pub(s) and a cab station are at the camp area. They offer
the chalets for a prize which I think is quite ok especially as it is the
same no matter if you stay on your own or share the chalet with friends
or other Feelgood fans. The place where the Memorial will take place is
not too far away (about 10 minutes walk).
I am looking forward to meet some of the fans who emailed me in the past!
Have you already got a ticket for the show? If not, you should hurry, because
it will be sold out soon! Please follow EXACTLY the orders I give on the
website to get your ticket.
SEE YOU IN CANVEY!!!!
FEEL GOOD!!!

Sunday, 01-Mar-98 04:27:43
Hi Marcelo!
First of all many Thanks for sending the Feelgood reports you have written,
even I cannot read any word of that Spanish (or Portuguese???) stuff. I
will try to get it translated somewhere and then publish it on the website
(if that is ok for you). Sorry I had not replied earlier, I am very busy
and there still are many many mails waiting for getting a reply. I feel
very bad about it but the day only got 24 hours, am I right? And there
is many other things I have to do, too...
I would be GLAD to trade one of the Dr Feelgood books to get your singles!!!
No question! Have a look at the Order Shop page on my website - maybe you
want something else too. Then I will get the stuff for you and you can
send me the records. Tell me what you want and it will be sent to you as
soon as possible.
Would be great to see you at the Memorial in June!
FEEL GOOD!!!

Re: Re: Seven Inchs from Argentina to Trade
Thursday, 05-Mar-98 21:34:48
Dear Gabi:
I'm so glad to trade you my records!!! Please, I need the book so bad!!!
I can't buy the Grand stuff because there's no way to send a cheque in
sterling from my hometown, only in dollars.
My desire is to get the two videos (especially the vhs from '75), a t-shirt
of DrFeelgood (black and XL) and the badge. Gabi, it could be a dream come
true for me (a really old fan) to have an autographed photo of the band!!!!
Please, answer me right now!!! and send me all you can (specially the book,
of course) and I will send you inmediately my three singles and the original
magazine where I wrote the article in "spanish" (Not Portuguese
in Argentina!!!). I'm waiting anxiosly your answer.

Steve,
Just read your notice. I saw the current line up late last year at the
Cellar Club in South Shields. My band play there too and we do some Feelgood
covers - e.g. the best Roxette you're ever likely to see, along with Take
a Tip, She does it Right and Down at the Doctors. I've loved them since
first seeing them at Newcastle City Hall in 76 - but miss the original
line up.

Nice to hear about a person of such good taste from a country I wouldn't
have thought even heard of the Feelgoods ! Keep up the good work, Marcelo.
Had the pleasure of seeing the guys in action on home ground at Southend

June, soon.

Dear Paul:
A lot of thanks for your words!!! I'll do all I can to spread the FEELGOODS
music and legacy in my country. To assist a Lee Memorial concert
is one of the greatest dreams of my life; I love his music since 1975 when
"Down By The Jetty" was edited in Argentina (also "Stupidity"
was released here).
My best wishes for you,
Marcelo Gobello
Re: Hardcore Feelgood Fan from Argentina
Tuesday, 10-Feb-98 23:37:19
Hello Marcelo,
what a surprised we also got fans in Argentina - that´s great to
know!
I´m afraid there is no fan club of Dr Feelgood but a newsletter service
(4 issues per year) run by John Butterfield in England.
I am good friend of various Feelgoods and happy they have choosen me for
doing their offical website. Naturally I would be interested in getting
a copy of everything you wrote (and will write) about Dr Feelgood also
I think it would be great to have an Appreciation Society for SouthAmerica.
Let me know, what exactly you want to do and I try to help as much as I
can, ok?
FEEL GOOD!!!

Re: Re: Hardcore Feelgood Fan from Argentina
Wednesday, 11-Feb-98 01:59:37
Dear Gabi,
I'm so excited that I don't know where to begin!!!
Let me tell you something 'bout myself: I'm 39 years old, a rock journalist
with 15 books written in spanish in the subject of r'n'r (including the
FIRST book about Peter Hammill in the world) and a 23 years old fan of
the FEELGOODS (my favourite favourite band of all times!).
Every sunday I put one or two songs of the band in my radio program ("Rock
Show", on the air in the most important rock frequency of Argentina:
ROCK & POP FM), and every time I could I write something about 'em
(the last time was a three pages article - magazine "Cerdos &
Peces" # 53).
As long as I know only three records were released in Argentina: "Down
By The Jetty", "Malpractice" and "Stupidity",
and only one cd is currently available by usa import: "Malpractice".
All the GRAND stuff are very hard to find in my country (I only have seven
cds re- leased by them) but a few of us (poor "end of the world"
fans!!) had the wonderful "LOOKING BACK" box.
I also own a record shop (ONLY the best r&R and R&B stuff) and
sing as a frontman on a local Pub-Rock style combo.
Now, you asked me what I want...well, I WANT IT ALL:
all the cds I don't have, the T-shirts, THE BOOOK (my right arm for one
copy), etc.
I want to write the first book in spanish of DR FEELGOOD, to found an appreciation
society, to import all the GRAND catalogue in Argentina, and (the dream
of my life) to see the band live on a Lee Memorial Concert.
DR FEELGOOD is better known in my country that you can imagine; a "cult
band", yes, but very respected and with an increasing interest about
the people every year. I'm proud to tell you that I have a lot of the responsability
of that thing.
Please, don't forget me and keep on touch.
A thousand thanks for you work and remember that I'll do whatever you want
and need. I'm a serious guy, but I'm crazy 'bout the FEELGOODS. Think I
need a little SURGERY.
God bless you, the Feelgoods and their fans,
Marcelo Gobello / Fax: 0054-23-942758 - mgobello@bigfoot.com
Re: Re: Hardcore Feelgood Fan from Argentina
Thursday, 12-Feb-98 22:46:48
Hello Marcello,
I read your message and it was nice to see you are such a dedicated fan
to DR FEELGOOD!
To get all the "Feelgood stuff" you want, have a look at the
Order Shop page at the website. There you will find
a downloadable order form which is to send to the Dr Feelgood office. All
needed info is to read there. It would be great if you send me a copy via
email or Fax (mail me and I send you the number via private e mail).
Also, as said before I appreciate anything (written or photographed) which
I can use to publish on the website. If you are interested in publishing
some of your spanish written Feelgood stuff, send it via mail and I will
add it (would be nice if you give a brief report on the contents as I cannot
speak or read spanish). I am starting offering non-english reports etc
on the website for the ones who cannot read english.
Please mail me, ok?
FEEL GOOD!!!

Marcelo,
At least Be Seing You (Te Veo) was released in Argentina.
I have also heard a romour that Sneaking Suspicion exists as well.
Also the Argentinian Office of United Artists should be recognized from
1) releasing Down By The Jetty (Por El Espigon) with a picture inner sleeve
2) releasing three singles
a) She Does It Right
b) Back In The Night
c) You Shouldn't Call The Doctor backed with Don't You Just Know It
Most of these had also special white label promo versions or/and came
out with promotional inserts. So there's lot to search for for a collector.
I wonder what suprices your neighbour countries might have!
Cheers!
