In January 1997, fresh from an intensive 3-month European tour as lead vocalist with Dr Feelgood, I had the good fortune to do some radio in my favorite city of Helsinki. I had been invited by Teppo Nattila to play some solo blues piano and vocals on Teppo's Radiomafia Show. The response was good, with sound engineer Kari Ahola creating such a lively and intimate sound that the natural progression was for us to work together on an album. The outcome is this, my first solo album, and a long way removed from the hectic but satisfying demands of fronting Dr Feelgood.
These tunes comprise a handful of blues standards which have meant the most to me over a lifetime of listening, plus one of my own compositions just for good measure. The piano arrangements are simple, so the voice is to the fore: What welve captured is a more introspective Pete Gage, as near as possible to how I play in those private moments at home by myself - out of hours.

Pete supplied vocals and harmonica as special guest on the tracks ''Tanqueray'' and ''Sweet Disposition'' of the CD ''The Doc Pack'' by the band Doctor's Order from Finland.
