EDDIE
& THE HOT RODS
Official Website from 1996-2004
- UPDATED FEBRUARY 1, 2008
THE
official RODS website is up since Jan. 17th 2004 at www.eddieandthehotrods.com

**********************************************************************************
Hi Folks,
the
main contents of this website have been taken off the net (following the
order of
the Rods' Record Company), but they are still kept on my computer - so
a ''return''
is possible and planned. As the site of Dr Feelgood will receive a complete
redesign
this year, it offers a good chance also to flick through all the Rods material
to decide
what shall ''return to see the daylight''. So please check back from time
to time...
(It's far better anyway to see and hear Eddie & The Hot Rods in real
instead on the
computer screen !)
Be
good !

''The
first time I ever heard the word 'punk' used to describe anything that
anyone was doing
was in Time Out, a London Listings magazine, where they said: 'Eddie
and the Hot Rods in
the second generation of punk bands.' I remember reading this and going,
'What is this punk?
What is this word?' And then the Pistols came through and it was clear
what they meant.".

LATEST (in the meantime OLD) NEWS
>>> UP-TO-DATE NEWS at www.eddieandthehotrods.comAfter a gig in Paris (Oct. 7th 2004) all gear from the Hot Rods was taken from their van. Here is a LIST OF THE STOLEN EQUIPMENT. Maybe you can help to track down the stolen items or the thieves. The page is kept in black on white writing, so you can print it out. Please keep your eyes and ears open for it. You never know where the stuff possibly turns up again. It would be great to receive it back!

19-Nov-2004: EDDIE & THE HOT RODS on UK TV: ITV Anglia broadcasts ''When Essex rocked'' on December 3rd (0.00am - 0.30am, Friday to Saturday night). The documentary covers the early 70ies of Dr Feelgood, Eddie & The Hot Rods, The Kursaal Flyers, The Clash, and features interviews with Barrie Masters, Chris Fenwick, Wilko Johnson, John B. 'Sparko' Sparks, Will Birch, Tony Moon (author ''The Dr Feelgood Story''), Billy Bragg, and more. To fetch via satellite on Sky Channel 103 (Strobe 963 or 964 for Essex, depending on post code). => www.itv.com or www.angliatv.com
23-Sept-2004: The Hot Rods have now signed to Bad Reputation records in France and the album should be avialable across Europe soon. A tour of Germany, Austria, Switzerland and other countries is in planning through Rock Artitst International in April 2005.
07-June-2004: Have you already got the new Hot Rods CD? If not, then better hurry! --- No idea what I have expected the Hot Rods to come up with, expected nothing bad of course, but ''Better Late Than Never'' blew me away. The whole cd is smashing, rocking, speeding, powerful. It's pure energy and great tracks. The 'youngsters' in the band clearly must have inhaled the Hot Rods spirit. And Barrie, the only original member left? Sure, he looks older but he is still the same special frontman which he always was. Still a pleasure to see him on stage, delivering the goods.
By the way, besides the Inmates, Eddie & the Hot Rods are the band who keep me wondering why they are stuck in the UK (plus the occasional gig in France). It's a true shame! Where are the agents, clubs, promoters outside of Britain who are willing to bring some real and good music to the public? C'mon, forget boy groups, dancing girlies and such crap! --- Better late than never... ~ Gabi (webmistress)09-March-2004: The cover art of the upcoming Hot Rods CD (still in the pressing) has been done by Simon Thorp, who is the main artist at Viz comic. The original drawing will soon be auctioned for on eBay (to be announced at the website), and the proceeds will go to a charity of Simons choice. There will also be a competition to win copies of the album etc, in next months copy of Viz.
04-March-2004 (e-mail from the Hot Rods): ''We would like to announce that, sadly, Gary Loker is no longer with the band, due to a combination of personal reasons and his recent ill health. We would like to thank him and wish him all the best. With a desire to carry on working as a 5-piece, and with the new album, 'Better Late Than Never', released shortly, a replacement needed to be found quickly. The fearless Chris Taylor (ex Receeders) is our man, and he will make his debut supporting Dr Feelgood, on March 12th at Belvedere Park, Burton-upon-Trent. We would also ask that, due to the situation we now find ourselves in, anyone who is currently dealing with Gary with regard to bookings, re-direct all communications to bookings@eddieandthehotrods.com. Thank you."
=> MP3 sound clips of the upcoming CD available at www.eddieandthehotrods.com25-Jan-2004 (e-mail from Richard): The new CD - ''Better Late Than Never'' - is now at the mix stage, and Richard will be doing that over the next couple of weeks. There are 11 brand new tracks, which although credited to Masters/Bowley/Holgarth/Dean, are actually a collection of collaborations between Simon & Dipster, Richard & Barrie and Richard & Simon. Gary has contributed to two songs as well. The other track is the Mott cover, "Once Bitten...". It's taken a few weeks to record due to limited time, what with gigs (Otway as well) and other commitments. The band really has a great feel to it because they laid down all the rhythm section in one day, and in about 3 takes in most cases. Because of the different combinations of writers, the songs are all distinct from each other despite having the same overall feel and 'Hot Rods' sound. The other consideration is the cover art, the Rods are very lucky that a friend of Richard, Simon Donald, who edits a comic called VIZ, has agreed to do a cartoon strip cover. VIZ is a very popular magazine in England, and this is really quite a coup!
The CD shall be released at the end of February.>>> MORE NEWS at www.eddieandthehotrods.com

Let the sites' internal search engine look for "Eddie And The Hot Rods". If you buy something it would be very kind if you tell them you were "sent by Gabi / Hot Rods website". Cheers :o)
