BRITAINS PREMIER ROCK&ROLL-BOOGIE&JIVE BAND
The original band was formed 1985. Sincen then the Big Town Playboys have played countless gigs and many festivals in various countries all over Europe and also have visited America for several concerts. Five albums were released until 1999 and various Playboys worked and still work with other musicians (live and in the studio). All this plus solo steps of frontman Mike Sanchez show the remarkable ability of the band to perform vintage Rock & Roll as well as self penned songs. Even stuff from decades ago sounds like if it was composed last week - without losing its originality. The BTPs guarantee an enjoyable time with early to late Rock & Roll, Jive and Boogie. End of 1999, after the release of his 2nd solo album, Mike has left the band to concentrate on his personal career while the BTPs continue with singer Big Joe Louis and Wes Wilson on keyboards/harmonica to fill the gap. Also a new guitarist stepped in and Nick Lunt and his baritone saxophone returned back from the Big Six.
To describe a live show of the band is kind of impossible as even words like "pure energy, joy, fun, real entertainment and talent" can not give an impression of what really happens when the Big Town Playboys hit the stage.
Give yourself a chance and go to see them!

Late 1999: Founding member and frontman MIKE SANCHEZ has left the BTP's to continue his solo projects. He also joined BILL WYMAN & HIS RHYTHM KINGS. Same like keeping this ''historical'' archive (holding info until 2000) for the BTP's, me (Gabi) still has an info site for Mike at www.drfeelgood.de/sanchez/index2.htm. Mike's official site can be visited at www.mikesanchez.co.uk.
Aug. 2000: Few days ago I've received some photos and a soundfile from the actual BTP's line-up. Susan Andersen from Norway already has got the same material published at the Big Town Playboys pages of her R&B website.
Sept. 2000: Movinmusic's website gots a page about the Big Town Playboys with sound files of "Don't know where she went", "Cry Hard Luck" and "Do what you wanna do". Check it out!
Don't forget to visit the Official Big Town Playboys Website which is up and running since end of August 2000 to provide you with 1st hand band and recording newsm photos and tour/gig dates.
