1.) It is very nice to get an award (oh yeah!!), especially if it comes with constructive critics and/or praise - both helps to keep on going and improve.

2.) You have to "go out" to fetch an award (just ask for it!), usually no one will come to you to present it - who wonders, there is too much stuff on the net, am I right?!

3.) If you go out "hunting for awards" you should be fastidious with whom you ask to assess your pages. I don´t think it makes much sense to ask your friends; because mostly they will be too much "involved" to be able to be honest and neutral. For sure they will present you an award because they like YOU, no matter how good your website is. It is ok, if that is all you want - but I think, the awards you should go for shall be given by pure and fair anaylysis of the quality of your pages.

4.) It is nice, if the award is related to the theme(s) of your web site in some way. To get response regarding the design, style, quality and way how you present your information is great and precious - as more the critic knows, what he/she talks about, the better!

5.) Positive words will make you happy, no question, but you also should be thankful for negative critics, as long it is appropriate. Take it as incentive to improve your skills.

6.) Be aware of the honour someone spends time to visit your web site (remember, there are MILLIONS of pages on the net!), even if he / she in the end is not as enthusiastic about it as you have expected. There are too many different feelings and demands involved when visiting a web site. It is impossible to satisfy anyone. And it is fact, at the end of the day the most precious "award" is given to you by the people, who return to your pages regularly because they enjoy what your pages have to offer.

7.) If nothing else helps and there is no one is willing to offer you an award (for which reason ever)
